We accommodate both junior and senior scholars, and have limited means available to support your visit. In Fall 2019 we are happy to host Evangelos Kotsioris of the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and Giovanni Bellotti and Alessandra Covini of Studio Ossidiana in Rotterdam. They will investigate the collections of Het Nieuwe Instituut in relation to the Total Space project and will contribute to the exhibition and public lecture programme.

Previous guests include Prof. Georges Teyssot (Université de Laval) and Prof. M. Christine Boyer (Princeton University). Boyer held the public lecture Open Societies, Common Spaces.

In 2017, the Jaap Bakema Study Centre welcomed Maarten Gielen and Lionel Devlieger of the Brussels-based office Rotor as Visiting Professors. The extensive ten-week programme consisted of an international conference at TU Delft and archival seminars and exhibition at Het Nieuwe Instituut, amongst other educational activities.

PhD-researchers that visited the Jaap Bakema Study Centre were Gianluca Ferriero (Politecnico di Milano), Rebeca Merino del Río (Universidad de Valladolid), and Fabiano Borba Vianna (Universidade de São Paulo).

In the years 2006-2012 the precursor organisation of Het Nieuwe Instituut, the Netherlands Architecture institute, hosted the Bakema Fellowship programme. Fellows were Jessica Bridger, Elena Cabrera Vacas, Dietmar Koering, Thomas Kong, Ismae’l Sheikh Hassan and Tim de Boer.
