Het Nieuwe Instituut is offering an exclusive opportunity for Members to attend the Lisbon Architecture Triennale and the Art on Display 1949-69 exhibition opening at the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum in Lisbon on 8 and 9 November 2019.

This two day trip will offer Het Nieuwe Instituut Members, alongside selected guests (press, relations), a special insider's experience of the Lisbon Architecture Triennale: The Poetics of Reason on Friday. On Saturday, Members will attend the Making the Exhibition conference, opening the exhibition of Art on Display 1949-69. Both events are associated events with the Lisbon Architecture Triennale 2019.

Art on Display 1949-69, curated by Penelope Curtis (director of Gulbenkian Museum) and Dirk van den Heuvel (Jaap Bakema Study Centre), investigates the relationship between art, architecture and the public by focusing on art exhibitions designed by architects.

During the opening conference, Making the Exhibition, Wouter Davidts, author of many books about the relationship between art and architecture, will moderate a conversation with the curators of Art on Display 1949-69. Guus Beumer (director of Het Nieuwe Instituut) and Ippolito Pestellini Laparelli (architect, designer of exhibitions and partner of OMA) will also be in conversation. The conference will be followed by a private cocktail party.
